A Prayer for the World
from Women of Faith

Picture
Dear God, we give thanks for a shared commitment to diversity and collaboration across faiths, cultures and gender, we give thanks for a commitment to leadership that empowers others in positive ways, and we give thanks for a commitment to communities that work for the good and wellbeing of society.

We offer gratitude for individuals who live and lead with integrity, courage, discipline, and humility, and for those who move with creativity, perseverance, justice, forgiveness, and love in our world.

We especially lift up those who may struggle, even now, under the burden of oppression and injustice, and those who daily live in despair. We pray for their help, and for our inspiration and initiative in bringing aid. We pray for a renewal of hope in these dark places.

We lift up those in our country and our world who hold power, and we pray that its energy may be used to build up the spirits of others, and bring forth life in our communities.
We pray that we would in all respects be models of good works, and that in our teachings we may show integrity, dignity, and speech that cannot be condemned. We pray that we would emulate generosity, morality, uprightness, gentleness, self-control, freedom from anger, mercy, and forbearance, as we lead our families, communities, countries, and world.

We pray that we would hold fast, all together, and not be divided, that we would unite our hearts in love, so that by grace we can become brothers and sisters in faith and goodwill.

Amen

Aameen

In the name of God, the infinitely Compassionate and Merciful.
Praise be to God, Lord of all the worlds.
The Compassionate, the Merciful. Ruler on the Day of Reckoning.
You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help.
Guide us on the straight path,
the path of those who have received your grace;
not the path of those who have brought down wrath, nor of those who wander astray.
Amen.

Ghada Ghazal
"Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us.
Surah Al-Baqarah [2:286]

Sr. Olga Sanchez
Loving God,
lead us beyond ourselves
to care and protect,
to nourish and shape,
to challenge and energize
both the life and the world
You have given us.
God of light and God of darkness,
God of conscience and God of courage
lead us through this time
of spiritual confusion and public uncertainty.
Lead us beyond fear, apathy and defensiveness
to new hope in You and to hearts full of faith.
Give us the conscience it takes
to comprehend what we’re facing,
to see what we’re looking at
and to say what we see
so that others, hearing us,
may also brave the pressure that comes
with being out of public step.
Give us the courage we need
to confront those things
that compromise our consciences
or threaten our integrity.
Give us, most of all,
the courage to follow those before us
who challenged wrong and changed it,
whatever the cost to themselves.

O God, Author of all that is good and great, you have brought us together from the four corners of the earth to advance the dignity of womanhood and so create a more just and equitable society where your children are one in Christ. Send us the gifts of the Holy Spirit to inspire and guide our deliberations. Give us the grace to listen to one another and to you. Grant that after our sessions our lives will never be the same again and by our actions and words we advance your kingdom on earth. We make this and all our prayers as we always do through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
Sr. Robbie Pentecost
Living God,
loving God, we thank You
and we praise You
for the power of your presence
deep in our hearts,
the vitality of Your presence
here in our midst,
for this opportunity
to come together
to affirm our identity
and to celebrate
our common hope.
We thank You
for the quality of achievement
that is represented here,
for the many and diverse efforts
that continue to contribute
toward the building of a better world.
Pour out Your Spirit upon us.
Confirm and strengthen our vision.
Be the Hope that sustains us
and strengthens us
in these changing, challenging times.
God of our foremothers, Our God forever,
Glory and praise!
AMEN!
Sr. Cecilia Espenilla
God of love and mercy
We bring before you women, men and children Who have lost their freedom
Whose dignity have been broken
Whose lives and future darkened
Give them back their dignity
Restore their broken bodies and spirit Provide them with the brightest future Let them live again in love and peace
Protect all those who work against human trafficking Strengthen the defenders of human dignity
Shine your light on those who educate the people Bless those who care for the victims and survivors
Make the homes a sacred place for children
Guide the parents and the elders
Fill them with wisdom and the spirit of love and compassion Embolden them to become protectors and defenders
Touch the hearts of the traffickers and their supporters Change their greed to compassion
Break their chain and network of abuse
Send exploiters to work for justice instead.
All this we ask in Jesus Christ,
in the unity with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
